How do I reach you? Let me count the ways.

As a marketing and advertising professional, it is my job to figure out the best, most cost effective way to reach the consumer. It is most important for a business to first determine – who is really their customer. I have never met a client who doesn’t say to me...”Everybody – I want to reach everybody”

Doesn’t work that way. If you want the young hip, 30 something female- place a 30 second TV commercial on “the real housewives of New Jersey.” For confirmation – just look at the average age/household income/social-economic demo of the women who attended the wildly successful “Knock out cancer event” sponsored by Clear Channel, held at the Galleria Mall in Mt. Lebanon. The Cosmo sipping, Credit card swiping crowd showed up to see housewife Teresa, buy her cookbook, and enjoy the “beautiful people” of Pittsburgh.

If you need to reach middle age men with money? Perhaps radio talk, including the new 93.7 KDKA fm – The Fan. How about the teenager or young 20? Clear channel wins again with KISS radio and the Mikie and Big Bob show in the morning. What about print? Who reads the newspaper anymore? I do – cover to cover – but last year in a room full of media and ad people, the speaker asked “who in this room reads the paper?” I was in the front of the room – shot my hand up proudly – then looked around…uh oh, I was only one of two who and admitted sitting with morning coffee, enjoying the daily news.

However my new client, INEVO CONTOURING ran a ½ page ad for a “buy one – get one FREE lipo laser package, and did over $15,000 in new business. Hmmmmm, Baby boomers rocked that campaign!

So determine your customer, stay focused, and for goodness sake – ADVERTISE!
